Carpentry is usually the largest single item in a Singapore renovation, often a third or more of the total budget. Most built-in carpentry is priced per foot run: the length of the unit measured along the wall, where one foot is about 30.5 cm.

This guide lists typical 2026 prices for common carpentry items, explains what changes the price, and shows how to estimate your own budget.

What affects the cost

Board material

Plywood carcasses cost more than particle board but last longer in Singapore's humidity. All our carpentry uses ENF-grade plywood.

Door finish

Laminate is the standard. Veneer, spray paint, glass and fluted panels cost more.

Internal fittings

Drawers, pull-out baskets, soft-close hinges and internal lighting add to the price per foot run.

Height and depth

Full-height units and deeper wardrobes use more material than standard sizes.

How to estimate your carpentry budget

Measure the length of each wall where you want carpentry, convert to feet (centimetres ÷ 30.5) and multiply by the rate for that item. For example, a 6-foot full-height wardrobe at S$400 per foot run costs about S$2,400.

Add up each item, then allow 10 to 15% for fittings and finishes you may upgrade along the way.

Ways to save

  • Build full-height only where you need the storage; use free-standing furniture elsewhere.
  • Choose laminate for most doors and a premium finish for one feature piece.
  • Keep the internal layout simple; shelves cost less than drawers.

Timeline: Carpentry is made to measure, so fabrication usually takes 2 to 4 weeks after site measurement, plus a few days to install. See our renovation timeline guide.

Frequently asked questions

It is the price per foot of carpentry measured along the wall. One foot is about 30.5 cm, so a 180 cm wardrobe is about 6 feet run.

A full-height built-in wardrobe with laminate doors typically costs S$350 to S$450 per foot run in 2026, so a 6-foot wardrobe costs about S$2,100 to S$2,700.

Plywood is stronger and handles humidity better than particle board, so it lasts longer in Singapore homes. Low-formaldehyde ENF-grade plywood is also healthier, especially for bedrooms.

Usually 2 to 4 weeks to fabricate after measurements are taken on site, then a few days to install.
